tailor's tales

been working on a little black dress for a friend's wedding for a while, changed some details a few times and eventually after being a bit uncertain about it, i decided to wear it to the wedding and it felt great.
here is a little black dress progression;

just patterns on black fabric.

details and ironing.

developing an actual shape to it, and how it looked when i (first) finished it. the pink collar didn't seem elegant enough to my opinion so i unpicked it, which was harder than any sewing i ever did but was worth it, because the black one i finally did matches what i wanted this dress to look like in the first place. glad i didn't give up.

that's a drunk me afterwards.
now i get all kind of requests for it, in black and other colors, and that makes a pretty happy me.

weekend starts Tuesday

and it should always be this way, even if we sleep four hours on a regular basis.
sewing projects (more to come...), out all night and best friends is always my choice even after working 11 hours.

now if you'll excuse me I must go eat my cereal and off to bed.

a film addict

it takes more trouble, more money, and has no guarantee of getting the results you wished for.
not much of a positive addiction to a person who's having a hard time getting over the fact that the 90s are over, but more productive than cocaine.
digital photography has it's known advantages, but for me it's the same as the difference between a toy puppy who amuses you without breaking things and puking on your carpet, and a real full-of-life puppy who would definitely do all that but will also give you a priceless lovely jump-and-a-lick that would make you forget about it.
okay that was a bit too emotional, but my point is that a digital camera is what i would use to get the job done right, while my old film one will be there to take photos which make a difference. you wouldn't waste a film on a shot that does not feel exciting and moving for you.

this Monday is

it could be that the latter was a sign of a disaster approaching. being alone at work listening to music, is probably not a very safe way to hear that the fire alarm is on. eventually being evacuated, out for coffee, and back to boredom land, i knew no damage was done.
my man "the cook" is taking a trip to the north so i just struggle the urge to order food. oh sweet laziness.
